There are many types of wood flooring to choose from, if you don’t know a lot about the wood species call and talk to Kim our design expert. You will have enough information to make an educated decision based on the look and feel you are trying to accomplish and longevity and stability. Certain woods are better if you have pets; there are others that are better if you live in a sandy area. Each wood comes with its pros and cons and they are all beautiful to look at. If you can not decide on any one type you can always mix the woods with a boarder and or medallions. Wood floors can become a work of art not just a base to a room. Floors can be installed unfinished or prefinished the choice is yours. But I must tell you that it is not cheaper to install the prefinished. Unfinished floors are sanded smooth and all boards are made even, trough filling is done to keep the floor looking like a sheet of glass and the polyurethane we apply to the new wood should last 10 to 15 years with proper care. Where as the prefinished wood will last only about 3 to 4 years until a touch up or full sanding is needed. Also prefinished flooring usually comes in a beveled edge and that means you are trapped with that color, because of the beveled edges you can only use a close color. In some cases the bevel will come out in a few standings. There is also the fact that having wood floors installed has helped people sell there homes. The investment is returned 10 fold. This is a tough market in home sales these days and you will need this edge. A shiny new wood floor will definitely get a new homebuyers attention. We receive many calls from realtors that can’t move a home and sellers that are tired or reducing the asking price. We had homes sell for an additional $30,000.00 more in addition to the asking price of there home once the floors were complete costing the only $5900.00 for the job to be done. After being on the market for months, once the floors were refinished the homes sold in two to three weeks.
