Staining

The staining process is a difficult job to get done correctly. Some woods stain better than others, where as some woods have color that would effect the stains appearance. Moisture plays a key role with stain and polyurethane adhering to the wood. The higher the moisture the more difficult the sanding and staining become. Please take a look at our species of wood page and take a look at what wood would work best for you if you wanted a very specific color or style to a room. Also the darker the stain the more difficult it is to apply. There are extra sanding steps and fine cuts to get the dark stains to lie out evenly on the wood and not be blotchy, streaky or have a picture frame effect. The best way to obtain a color for the wooden floors is to purchase the wood that best matches your desired look. Polyurethane can then be added to accent the color for you. We use Minwax stain and I have included a color chart for you to look at and choose from.

*The only problem stain is the pickled oak, however we do provide a warn bleached look that many just love.
